One of our former student docents wrote about his experience interning at OJMCHE. CLICK HERE to read his journey of applying and training for the program, interacting with people on the floor, his favorite exhibitions/artifacts during his time, and a few final thoughts.
“If the opportunity arises for you to volunteer for a museum, especially if you have the free time to participate, then do it. Being knowledgeable in a subject beforehand isn’t necessary, knowing how to hold a conversation and ace an interview isn’t necessary, knowing a museum inside and out beforehand isn’t necessary, (I hadn’t ever visited OJMCHE before applying!) and there is really no negative to trying. Working in a museum was one of the most positive experiences of my entire high school career, and I encourage all individuals even contemplating doing it to go for it, try it out, and see what they learn about not only the exhibitions and the museum, but themselves.” – Butch Nasser
