In honor of International Women’s Month, OJMCHE is hosting a Noontime Talk that follows the story of an extraordinary woman as told through her granddaughter’s words. Following clues from her grandmother, Irma’s extraordinary memoirs, Catherine Ehrlich explores her outspoken grandparents’ influential lives at the crossroads of German and Jewish national movements. This cross-generational journey discovers a secret deal behind Irma’s escape from Vienna, joins paths with famed early Zionists in Vienna, London, and the U.S., and reveals a deep heritage of empowered women. A part intimate personal memoir, part historical drama, this true story illuminates history we thought we knew and leaves us with a newfound respect for the bracing power or pride. The book can be purchased locally, call to check stock, at Powell’s, Broadway Books, and Annie Bloom’s or line through Bookshop.com or Amazon.com.
