The Museum welcomes two new board members Andrea Meyer and Linda Veltman. Both Andrea and Linda grew up in Portland and have extensive professional and volunteer experience. As OJMCHE begins a new chapter in our cultural life, we thank all of our volunteers, docents and board members for their dedication.
Andrea Meyer grew up in Portland and returned after graduating from Oberlin College. After graduating from law school, she clerked for a U.S. Magistrate Judge and worked at a small Portland law firm. She then joined the ACLU, first working as the Legislative Director/Counsel for the ACLU of Oregon, lobbying at the local and state level, and more recently as the Director of Affiliate Legislative Programs for national ACLU in both New York and Portland. She previously served on the OJM Board of Directors before moving to New York. She is pleased to return to the Board during this very exciting time in the Museum’s history. She also serves on the Board of Directors for the City Club Advocacy & Awareness Committee and the Sullivan’s Gulch Neighborhood Association.
Linda Veltman was born and raised in Portland. She married Larry Veltman in 1965 and along with administrative work, Linda worked as a realtor before starting a family. Linda and Larry raised two daughters and now have two granddaughters. For many years Linda has been a dedicated volunteer including work as an administrative assistant for Red Cross (Vandenberg Air Force Base), National Council of Jewish Women, Treasurer, Council representative to May Apartment Building Committee, Robison Home (then Cedar Sinai Park) board in various positions for approximately 30 years, Jewish Federation Board member, Treasurer and multiple committees, SMART volunteer, Our House Volunteer, Fruit & Flower Day Care Board member, and the Junior League of Portland. Linda notes her personal interests as “family and friends, bridge, reading, cooking, golf, travel and anything that makes me laugh.”
