Too often the only time students learn about Jewish life and history is through its attempted destruction during the Holocaust. OJMCHE’s Oregon Jewish Stories digital experience offers educators an opportunity to celebrate the vitality of Jewish life through a local lens. At the center of this narrative, we examine why Jews migrated to Oregon, how they found a sense of belonging in a larger community, the challenges they faced, and the contributions they made. In this session, educators will explore select chapters from the digital experience and learn effective ways to weave Oregon Jewish history and this resource into their curriculum in an engaging and thoughtful way.
*This program is hosted by Oregon Education Association and is open to member and non-member educators.
